- Operates asphalt plant to batch, crush and/or segregate materials used in construction.
- Assist with assembling, adjusting, maintaining, repairing and disassembling plant equipment as needed.
- Moves controls to heat, dry, mix ingredients to produce asphalt paving materials.
- Control weighing, feeding, crushing and sifting machinery.
- Observes gauges, dials and operation of machinery to ensure conformance with specifications.
- Basic knowledge regarding the use of computers in plant operation.
- May repair and/or make adjustments to the machinery.
- Uses various hand tools.
- Basic mechanical skills to assist with plant maintenance.
- Oil, grease, service and make normal operating adjustments to equipment.
- Yard maintenance.
- Travel to and from the different plants.
- Monitors the activity within the site.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures.
- Perform all other duties deemed necessary or assigned.
- High School Diploma / GED.
- Previous Construction / Manufacturing / Plant Operator experience preferred.
- Job requires the following motions: stretching, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, throwing, walking, standing, reaching and squatting.
- Walking or standing may occupy the entire day.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Potential exposure to extremes of hot or cold weather.
- Overtime work is required.
- Valid Driver's License with transportation to and from job sites.
