Electronics Technician - 2nd Shift

Responsibilities

Howmet Engine Systems is currently seeking an experienced Operations professional to join our team in Hampton, Virginia. The Operations professional should have a demonstrated ability to achieve results in a manufacturing environment and be passionate about leading activities to support the plant/location team to achieve manufacturing excellence. The role supports rapid, profitable growth through operational excellence and career development.

Devises, selects, sets up, and operates electronic instrumentation and related electromechanical or electrohydraulic apparatus used for operation and environmental testing of mechanical, structural, or electrical equipment. Translates test data for engineering personnel by performing PLC troubleshooting on control systems to quickly identify and resolve PLC faults.

2nd Shift (Mon - Fri, 3 pm - 11:30 pm)

• Read and follow work instructions.
• Record data manually or by computer as required.
• Select, install, calibrate, and check sensing, telemetering, and recording instrumentation and circuitry. Develop specifications for non‑standard apparatus according to engineering data and equipment capabilities.
• Troubleshoot control logic via PLC interface using software to isolate and repair fault conditions.
• Install or direct technical personnel for unit installation in test chambers or other facilities.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on automation equipment, including sensors, actuators, and motor drives.
• Document troubleshooting steps, corrective actions, and system changes for future reference.
• Operate test apparatus during test cycles to produce, regulate, and record effects of actual or simulated conditions such as vibration, stress, temperature, humidity, pressure, altitude, and acceleration.
• Analyze and convert test data into usable form and prepare graphs and written reports to translate test results. Plan test programs.
• Use computerized equipment and software to perform testing functions and produce graphs.
• Comply with all company attendance policies and guidelines, including regular attendance and occasional overtime.
• Other duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to follow all Howmet's safety regulations, work rules, and all departmental specific requirements.

• Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence. Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
• Apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Use mathematical operations for tasks like frequency distribution, test reliability and validity determination, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
• Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form and handle multiple abstract and concrete variables.

• High school Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 5 years of industrial or manufacturing experience.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
• Must be able to lawfully obtain access to export‑controlled items.

• Associate's degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering.
