Asphalt Milling Machine Operator - Hampton Roads
Job Title: Asphalt Milling Machine Operator
Department: Hampton Roads
Reports to: Paving Supervisor
Major Role and Purpose- Operate asphalt milling machine to mill asphalt for use in resurfacing highways, roadways, parking lots, etc.
- Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
- Properly manipulate hand or foot levers to control movement of milling machine.
- Guide and direct dump truck(s) while backing up to machine conveyor.
- Position and secure work pieces on machines, using holding devices, measuring instruments, hand tools and hoists.
- Verify alignment of work pieces on machines, using measuring instruments such as rules, gauges, or calipers.
- Observe milling machine operation and adjust controls to ensure conformance with specified tolerances.
- Must be able to work a day shift or night shift depending on the operational needs.
- Overtime work is required.
- Perform all other duties deemed necessary or assigned by supervisor.
- High School Diploma / GED
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Milling Machine Operator preferred.
- Effective communication and organization skills.
- Strong commitment to safety and the ability to work safely in various conditions.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Job requires the following motions: climbing, bending, squatting, pushing, pulling, vibrating, and reaching.
- Requires lifting up to 50lbs.
- Overtime work is required.
- Potential exposure to extremes of hot or cold weather.
