HSC Mold Prep Operator

Overview

Howmet Aerospace is a world leader in investment casting of superalloys, aluminum and titanium for jet aircraft and industrial gas turbine markets. We manufacture high tech products safely, accurately and efficiently through standardized processes aligned with customer specifications.

We are looking for a Mold Prep Operator to join the Hampton Structural Castings (HSC) group in Hampton, Virginia. The available shift is 1st shift, Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Training is on 1st shift, Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

• Inspect, disposition, clean, repair, plug, and wrap molds in preparation for casting.
• Remove molds from dewax line and place on skids using straps and hoists.
• Inspect molds and identify defects; disposition molds for continued processing or hold.
• Clean, plug and repair molds; cut wrap and wrap molds; attach pour cups and crucibles.
• Set up molds on casting trays; perform final inspection and logout of molds.
• Determine order of work based on work rules and priority lists; read and follow work instructions.
• Record data manually or by computer as required; retrieve and store materials, tools, and supplies; clean the work area.
• Fill out maintenance work orders; take photographs and develop work instructions as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Minimum of a high school diploma or GED required.
• At least 2 years of continuous work experience or training; recent graduates with no experience may provide a letter of recommendation.
• Availability for all shifts (including 2nd shift, 3rd shift, and weekend shifts) and overtime as schedules vary with operational needs.
• Near vision exam per ISO 18490 is required for new hires and internal candidates who are awarded the position.
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
