Position Information

Full-Time - Pay Grade (H-12): $19.25 – $25.99 (as of 7/1/26)

- Assists in providing health care by conducting health screenings, assessing health needs, providing first aid/emergency care and health counseling under the supervision of the School Nurse to advance the well‑being and academic success of students, as directed by the Health Services Coordinator.
- Provides routine medical care and first aid to students, staff, and faculty; administers medication and performs prescribed treatments and procedures; complies with procedures for sending ill or injured persons home or to a medical facility.
- Implements student health‑care plans for students with special health‑care needs.
- Conducts routine vision and hearing screenings as required by Virginia regulation, including referrals and follow‑up.
- Assists in the maintenance and updating of health records and maintains accurate documentation and confidentiality of information.
- Serves as a health resource person to the school and community.
- Assists the RN in promoting wellness through publications, presentations, and visits to classrooms.
- Communicates with students, staff, faculty, parents, and other medical resource persons to share information and determine appropriate actions in accordance with HIPAA and FERPA guidelines.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Basic Life Support certification.
- Considerable nursing experience related to health issues inherent in school‑age children preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
