Position: Registered Nurse Transition to Practice (RNTTP)

RNTTP Program Director

The RNTTP Program Director provides for full coordination of the Preceptor Program. Other duties may be assigned to the position as workload allows to include the following functions:

  • Facilitates the transition of the nurse resident from a novice nurse and/or advanced beginner to a competent professional.
  • Collaborates with multiple disciplines in the assessment, planning, organization, implementation and evaluation of an effective RNTTP Residency Program, including orientation, in-services, continuing education and competency assessment and validation. It is a comprehensive developmental training program with didactic and clinical components designed to provide the new RN opportunities to perform the role, duties, and patient care activities and procedures that are performed by RNs.
  • Executes position responsibilities that demonstrate creative approaches to providing educational opportunities with consideration to safety, effectiveness and cost, when planning/delivering education and training programs for the post-graduate RN, preceptor, mentor, other RN TTP Residency Program support teams and clinical staff.
  • This position works directly with Chief Nurses, Nurse Managers, Nurse Clinicians, and preceptors to facilitate the learning of nurses enrolled in the RN TTP Residency Program. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) is required. Other duties may be assigned to the position as workload allows.
  • Functions in a variety of teaching and/or consultation roles, which impact patient care and staff competence.
  • Effectively manages assigned resources and identifies creative strategies to increase efficiency within program, services, and the medical center.
  • Maintains professional boundaries with patients, families and employees. Behavior as a role model is transparent and above reproach.
