Responsibilities
Radiographs and inspects industrial gas turbine castings, and structural members for flaws, cracks, or presence of foreign materials and process‑related deviations by performing the following duties.
Follow Howmet's Safety Regulations and Work Rules Handbook along with all departmental specific safety requirements.
Operates x‑ray and film processing equipment.
- Have the skills and knowledge to set‑up and standardize equipment, process parts, interpret and evaluate for acceptance or rejection, and document results.
- Be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the x‑ray technique and inspection method.
- Conduct system performance checks in accordance with the applicable process standards and customer requirements.
- Provide necessary guidance and/or supervision to trainees and Level 1 personnel.
- Be familiar with the codes, standards, and other contractual documents that control the x‑ray method.
- Develop work instructions from approved general procedures; such instructions shall require final approval by the x‑ray Level 3.
- Have a basic knowledge of relevant product manufacturing and inspection technology.
- Perform systems checks and calibrations on all associated equipment related to the x‑ray film process within predetermined limits.
- Comply with all company attendance policies and guidelines; this includes, but is not limited to, regular attendance and occasional overtime.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; effectively present information and respond to questions from management.
- Calculate figures such as proportions, percentages, area, and circumference; apply basic algebra and geometry concepts.
- Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Basic Requirements
- This position requires a minimum of a high school diploma or general education degree.
- Must have current or previous X‑Ray film Level 2 certification from one of the following Industry Standards and provide documentation of certification status:
- ASNT SNT‑TC‑1A, Personnel Qualification and Certification in nondestructive Testing
- AIA / NAS‑410, NAS Certification Y Qualification of Nondestructive Test Personnel
- Experience:
- This position requires a minimum of 4 years’ experience as a certified film Level 2 inspector.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
- This position entails access to export‑controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant’s ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.
