Overview

The CHEF’STORE Sales Associate helps maintain an atmosphere of superior customer service, promoting the U.S. Foods strategy:

Shift Responsibilities

During a shift, you may be assigned to any department based on customer or business needs and, at the direction of store management, you may work in any or all of the following areas:

  • Front end of the store, selling merchandise and assisting customers through the checking‑out process.
  • Sales floor in the Meat/Frozen, Produce/Dairy, or Dry Goods/Culinary Equipment & Supply departments.
  • Replenishing freight and rotating product in any department.
  • Assisting during special store events such as Vendor Fairs, sales floor resets, and inventory processes.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Front End – Ensure an impeccable CHEF’STORE experience by developing and maximizing relationships with customers, performing sales and cash functions accurately in the POS, and verifying cart content as customers leave the store.
  • Sales Floor and Stocking – Increase sales and manage shrinkage, assist customers, receive and stock inventory, maintain proper labeling and FIFO rotation, use Microsoft Word & Excel, and help with price changes as directed.
  • Customer Courtesy – Maintain a safe and clean facility, manage parking lot and cart corrals, and perform additional duties as assigned by Store Management.

    Interact with employees at all levels throughout the company.
  • External:
    Interact with customers and other service and product providers.
Work Environment
  • Retail store setting, open to the public. Exposure to outside weather; moderate noise level.
  • Work performed on level surfaces, occasionally requiring ladders or elevated work. Temperature ranges from –10 to 85°F.
  • Physical interaction with customers is required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 6–12 months of retail cashier and/or stocking experience.
  • One year of retail selling and/or customer service experience is preferred.

  • Desire and ability to deliver exceptional customer service and a willingness to assist other employees.
  • Fast, efficient, and professional service to each customer.
  • Good common sense, logical thinking, and basic mathematical aptitude.
  • Motivated, self‑driven, able to multi‑task, prioritize, and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Flexible hourly schedule, including holidays and weekends.
  • Basic computer skills, cash handling experience, and proficiency with general office equipment.
Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent work experience required.
Physical Qualifications
  • Stand continuously.

  • Lift 1–10 lbs (frequently), 11–20 lbs (frequently), 21–50 lbs (frequently), 51–100 lbs (occasionally).

  • Push/Pull, climb/balance, stoop/squat, kneel, bend, reach above shoulder, twist, grasp objects, manipulate objects, manual dexterity—performed frequently or occasionally as described.
