AboutThe Role
As a Facilities Maintenance Technician, you'll play a key role in maintaining and improving our buildings located throughout Hampton and Newport News. Working independently, you will handle a variety of tasks involving carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, painting, and general repairs. Your expertise will ensure our facilities remain safe, efficient, and well‑maintained for staff and the individuals we serve.
In this role, you will perform preventive and routine maintenance across multiple facilities to ensure safe and efficient operations. You will troubleshoot and repair building systems, fixtures, and equipment while conducting general repairs in areas such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical. The position requires maintaining accurate records of all work performed and materials used, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and agency policies.
Additionally, you will support special facility projects and assist with event setups as needed to help maintain the overall functionality and appearance of agency buildings.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently, effectively manage time, and complete tasks efficiently, have strong problem‑solving abilities, and keen attention to detail, which are essential to maintaining the quality and safety of our facilities.
- Experienced in building or facility maintenance.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
