An Underground Power Technician/Laborer assists in the installation, maintenance, and repair of underground electrical power distribution systems.

  • Key Responsibilities Install conduit, duct banks, cable vaults, handholes, and related underground infrastructure.
  • Pull, place, and secure underground electrical cables under the direction of qualified personnel.
  • Perform site preparation and restoration activities, including grading and cleanup.
  • Assist equipment operators, linemen, and technicians
  • Follow utility specifications, project plans, and work instructions.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Adhere to company safety policies
  • Participate in safety meetings and training programs.
  • Qualifications High school diploma or GED
  • Previous utility, or underground utility experience preferred.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to perform strenuous physical labor and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Valid driver's license preferred
  • Basic knowledge of tools and equipment.
  • Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
  • Required Skills Ability to read and follow work instructions and safety procedures.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Attention to detail and situational awareness.
  • Physical Requirements Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting.
  • Ability to work on uneven terrain and in trenches.

  • Working Conditions Outdoor environments.
  • Exposure to dirt, dust, noise, and varying temperatures.

This role serves as an entry point into the underground power and utility construction industry and offers opportunities for advancement into equipment operator, cable splicer, foreman, or underground utility technician positions.
