Physical Security Systems Technician

We are seeking a skilled Physical Security Systems Technician to join our team supporting the Hampton VA Medical Center. This role involves field service, troubleshooting, maintenance, and project support for Bosch video surveillance systems. The ideal candidate will have strong low-voltage installation skills, IP network fundamentals, and experience with CCTV or electronic security systems. On-Site at Hampton VA Medical Center, Hampton, Virginia.

• Provide field troubleshooting and operational maintenance for Bosch IP cameras, including fixing outages, poor image quality, PTZ/control issues, PoE/power faults, network problems, and damaged cabling.
• Remove, repair/reinstall, aim, focus, and configure cameras and related hardware.
• Support Bosch Video Management System (BVMS) including device discovery, configuration validation, recording checks, alarm verification, and diagnostics.
• Coordinate with management, security personnel, network staff, vendors, and Bosch support for issues beyond field repair.
• Perform preventive maintenance, condition assessments, cleaning, firmware updates, and documentation.
• Support security-camera projects such as surveys, replacements, relocations, installations, and testing.
• Install and troubleshoot low-voltage infrastructure including Category 6/6A cabling, patch panels, PoE network connections, pathways, grounding, and mounting.
• Use test tools to verify copper cabling, network, PoE, and physical connectivity, isolating failure sources.
• Maintain accurate records, including device details, test results, maintenance history, photos, and updates.
• Follow site safety, security procedures, and facility access guidelines.
• Support scheduled after-hours work when needed.

• 2+ years of hands-on experience with CCTV, IP video surveillance, or electronic security systems.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot IP cameras and field devices from the physical layer through basic network connectivity.
• Experience installing, aiming, focusing, testing, and documenting fixed and PTZ cameras and mounts/housings.
• Knowledge of structured cabling practices, copper termination/testing, labeling, pathways, and telecommunications-room patching.
• Ability to read floor plans, wiring diagrams, work orders, and device documentation.
• Strong customer service and documentation skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Bosch BVMS technical certification or Bosch Security and Safety Systems Academy training.
• Hands-on experience with Bosch PTZ and fixed IP cameras, VRM, BVMS software, or Bosch recording appliances.
• Experience working with Bosch technical support and system commissioning.
• Familiarity with other enterprise video platforms or camera brands.
• Knowledge of access control, intrusion detection, or other electronic security systems is a plus.
• Low-voltage/network credentials such as BICSI Installer 1/2, NICET, CompTIA Network+, or Cisco fundamentals.
• Field safety training such as OSHA 10 or lift certification.

Pay range: $22.00-$29.00 per hour.

This pay range is based on qualifications and experience, and assumes all role requirements are met.
