Support Coordinator, Child and Adolescent Developmental Services

Annual Salary: $49,612

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

Join our dedicated team at the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board as a full‑time Support Coordinator for the Child and Adolescent Developmental Services program. This role will provide hands‑on support onsite and collaborate in a professional environment that prioritizes service excellence and empathetic care.

YOUR ROLE AS A SUPPORT COORDINATOR

As a Support Coordinator, you will ensure continuity of care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Your responsibilities include linking clients with service providers, monitoring progress, and advocating for their needs within and outside the system. You will guide families through the complex service landscape, fostering informed choices about the supports available to them and focusing on enhancing community integration and addressing medical, educational, vocational, and recreational needs.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN A SUPPORT COORDINATOR

Strong interpersonal skills are essential, as you will be the primary contact for clients and their families. Proficiency with relevant software tools is required for creating and managing person‑centered plans, monitoring progress, and documenting services.

To qualify for this position, candidates must have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling
  • One (1) year of experience in support coordination services with the assigned population.
  • Valid Virginia Driver's License.

Additional knowledge of advocacy, crisis intervention, and community resources will further support your success in this role.

You must successfully pass a criminal history fingerprint background investigation, DMV record check, Child Registry search, drug screening test, and employment reference checks.
