Position: PT Direct Care  Residential Behavioral Health

Part-Time Direct Care Associate – Residential Behavioral Health

Hourly Pay: $20.04

Shift Differential:
Additional $2.50 per hour for evening, overnight, and weekend shifts worked.

Work Schedule:

Every other weekend (Sat and Sun) 8 a‑4:30 p, 4:00 p‑12:30 a, 12:00 a‑8:30 a

Role Summary

As a Direct Care Associate, you will provide hands‑on support, supervision, and guidance to individuals with mental health and co‑occurring substance use needs. Working alongside the Program Supervisor and clinical team, you will help carry out individualized service plans, support daily routines, and contribute to a safe and recovery‑focused environment.

Program Overview

This position supports the MH Regional Supervised Housing Program operated by the Hampton‑Newport News Community Services Board. The program is designed to reduce hospitalizations by offering a stable, supportive residential environment that promotes independence and personal choice. Staff assist individuals with building daily living skills, engaging in treatment, and accessing community resources such as healthcare, financial benefits, and vocational or social opportunities.

Services are tailored to each individual's goals, encouraging long‑term recovery and community success.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide supervision and direct support in a residential behavioral health setting
  • Assist with daily routines, personal care, and independent living skills
  • Observe and report changes in behavior, mood, and overall well‑being
  • Support individuals in participating in treatment and community‑based activities
  • Complete accurate documentation in accordance with program standards
  • Communicate effectively with team members, families, and service providers
  • Maintain a safe environment while protecting client rights and confidentiality
Qualifications
  • At least one (1) year of experience supporting adults with serious mental illness
  • Valid Virginia driver’s license required
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

The selected candidate must successfully pass a criminal history fingerprint background investigation, DMV record check, Child Registry search, drug screening test, and employment reference checks.
