To provide social, emotional, and behavioral support services in a collaborative manner as an essential part of the school team.
QualificationsEducation:
Possession of a master's degree School Social Work and completion of a 500-clock hour, supervised internship with school-aged persons in an approved School Social Work training program.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Able to meet the Office of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) licensing requirements as a Limited License or Full License School Social Worker in the State of Michigan and holds current approval by the Michigan Department of Education as a Temporary, Continuing, or fully approved School Social Worker.
- In accordance with the established policies and procedures of the district, provides supportive services for eligible students enrolled in general, vocational or special education programs.
- Provides casework services to address personal, social, or emotional concerns related to students' educational and social progress.
- Works with families of diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Utilizes a variety of assessments to determine the need for special education services and to support student's social-emotional well-being.
- Collaborates with school-based leadership team on MTSS activities.
- Provides MTSS Tier 3 services (i.e., Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), etc.) integrating multiple data/information sources, including formal/informal observation of behaviors that interfere with learning.
- Collects necessary, relevant data through the demonstrated ability to administer/interpret/ analyze standardized assessments.
- Maintains accurate and timely records for the purpose of monitoring student progress.
- Reviews, analyzes, and revises implementation plans and interventions.
- Provides crisis prevention, planning, and intervention services, including assessments of the impact of trauma on development, learning, and school performance.
- Attends IEP/child study meetings and contributes to the IEP process, writing goals and objectives and recommending service time and frequency.
- Active involvement and participation in building MTSS team.
- Engages parent(s)/guardian(s) in examining how the school and home can effectively work together to improve the overall educational success of the student.
- Provides support to students and families relative to students' educational progress, community advocacy and referrals.
- Facilitates Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports.
- Maintains the confidentiality of student records and student information.
- Participates in professional development and Professional Learning Communities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
