Elementary School Teacher

Caniff Liberty Academy is looking for an excellent elementary school teacher. The job title is classroom teacher, and the supervisor is the school building principal. The job summary promotes and nurtures the education of students by planning and tailoring courses of study; monitoring, assisting with, and correcting academic efforts; providing a safe environment conducive to learning; and keeping parents informed.

Essential duties include educating students by planning and developing course of study according to curriculum guidelines; tailoring course of study by developing modifications for several levels of academic ability and previous achievement; developing and presenting lesson plans by using a variety of techniques; monitoring, assisting, correcting, and grading student results; maintaining order in the classroom; maintaining a safe, secure, and healthy educational environment;

intercepting deterioration in achievement by counseling students with academic difficulties; keeping parents informed by maintaining records of academic performance, attendance, and social acclimation; providing student support services; updating job knowledge; and enhancing the school's reputation.

Skills/qualifications include classroom management, verbal communication, resolving conflict, presentation skills, self-motivated, motivating others, listening, collaborative teaching, dealing with uncertainty, objectivity, and confidentiality.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree and a current and valid Michigan teaching certificate required by the Michigan Department of Education. The working conditions and physical requirements include the ability to exhibit manual dexterity, hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, speak in audible tones, and physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds, to bend, stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead.
