Aboutthe Role
The High School Guidance Counselor is responsible for providing comprehensive counseling services that promote students’ academic, personal/social, and career development. The counselor serves as a student advocate while collaborating with staff, families, teachers, and administrators to create a supportive learning environment where every student has the opportunity to succeed.
What You’ll Do- Provide individual and small‑group counseling to support students’ academic and career development.
- Assist students with academic planning, goal setting, and college and career readiness.
- Identify and address barriers to student success, including academic, behavioral, and attendance concerns.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, to support student achievement and well‑being.
Required:
- Master’s degree in School Counseling or a related field.
- Valid Michigan Teaching School Counselor License (SCL) or NT endorsement in School Counseling.
- Strong classroom management, organizational skills, and commitment to growth.
- Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with students and families.
Preferred:
- 1–2 years of experience working as a school counselor.
