JOB SUMMARY: The classroom teacher will create a flexible, developmentally appropriate environmentwherechildrencandemonstratepersonalgrowth,social skill, and language development as well as academic skills.

• Developslessonplansaninstructionalmaterialandprovidesindividualizedandsmallgroup instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
• Translateslessonplansintolearningexperiencioneastobestutilizetheavailabletimefor instruction.
• Establishesandmaintainsstandardsofstudentbehaviorneededtoachievean effective learning atmosphere in the classroom.
• Evaluates students' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares reportcardsandothernecessarydocumentationtoreportstudentgrowthandachievement.
• Maintainsstudentclassroomrecordsusingcurrentdistricttechnologyandexpectations.
• Communicatesregularlywithparentsthroughconferencesandothermeanstodiscuss curriculum, assessments, and student progress.
• Identifiesstudentneedsandcollaborateswithotherprofessionalstaffmembersinassessing and helping students address social, emotional and academic issues.
• Administersstandardizedandlocalassessments.
• Provides a nurturing, supportive, and positive learning environment with high expectations that encourage student responsibility, enhance motivation, clearly communicateclassroomroutines,andincorporatechallenginginstructionalstrategies.
• Participatesinschoolimprovementinitiativesattheschoollevel,committee sand collaborative learning teams.
• Plans, organizes and provides instruction based on guidance from the Michigan Department of Education. Instruction must be consistent and coordinated with the districts instructional programsothatstudentsmeetandexceedlearningtargetsandtherequirementsoutlinedinthe state and federal law.
• Provides a nurturing, supportive, and positive learning environment rich with culturally responsive best practices, complete with high expectations that encourage student responsibility,enhance motivation,clearlycommunicateclassroomroutines,and incorporate challenging instructional strategies.
