Food Preparation Specialist

REGULAR FULL TIME Manual Labor Hamtramck, MI, US

Salary Range: $22.00 To $24.00 Hourly

NuVue Foods is searching for a dynamic and experienced Food Preparation Specialist to create large food batches that focus on recipe accuracy and proper weighting. Our facility is the producer of grab-n-go food service products and programs for leading convenient Store chains around the country. We're looking for a passionate culinary professional to help advance the future goals of the company by following our recipes without sacrificing quality.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain Food Safety under USDA/FDA/SQF Requirements.
  • Prepare workstations with required ingredients and equipment to meet production goals while maintaining safe and sanitary working conditions.
  • Prepare bulk meats, vegetables, poultry, baked goods and other foods for packaging.
  • Prepare & Mix Industrial size food batches according to recipes, including measuring, and weighing and storing.
  • Control recipe yields to control waste and adhere to the recipe’s serving size.
  • Handle and store the finished products and ingredients in accordance with HAACP Standards including but not limited to proper food rotation.
  • Participate in “special attention” projects for the upkeep of the commercial kitchen.
  • Complete and submit end-of-day paperwork to Commercial Kitchen Manager for USDA, FDA, and SQF compliance.
  • Train new team members in accordance with duties and responsibilities.
  • Willing to learn multiple functions in the kitchen to fill workforce shortfalls including machine operating.
  • Promote positive working relationships with colleagues for departmental success!
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in culinary or related field
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of management and/or supervisor experience
  • Working knowledge of food safety regulations and quality control procedures (HACCP, FDA, etc.).
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and shift deadlines under time pressure.
  • Strong organizational skills with close attention to detail, particularly around records, reporting, and compliance documentation.
  • Comfortable working under pressure when operational needs are required.
Working Relationships
  • Commercial Kitchen Manager (reports to): Provides updates on kitchen production output, and daily job duties; escalates job function errors
  • Kitchen Staff (collaborate): Directs daily production activities, trains and mentors team members, builds schedules, ensures recipe accuracy, and manages attendance and performance.
  • New Hires: Trains new team members to understand duties, recipes, and safety procedures from day one.
