Summary Description

Assume shift responsibilities for the care delivery team. Assist in coordinating patient care by assigning and scheduling staff, prioritizing, delegating and evaluating nursing care. Support process improvement activities, work with the interdisciplinary team, provide input to nursing staff performance appraisals, and assist with staff education as needed.

The Clinical Coordinator will supplement staffing under the direction of the Administrative Director and/or Clinical Manager, holding a supervisory role while also performing a limited patient care assignment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Function as a lead and resource person for nursing personnel, acting as a clinical resource and assisting the clinical manager in planning and facilitating staff meetings and development.
  • Collaborate with the manager to monitor the schedule, ensuring an adequate nurse‑patient ratio on each shift and reviewing monthly schedules with the staffing office.
  • Facilitate shared decision‑making among staff and manage unit throughput to improve length of stay.
  • Coordinate in‑service programs to help staff maintain or enhance competence based on identified needs.
  • Assist the manager with interview, selection, retention, mentoring and evaluation of staff.
  • Participate in the development of department policies, procedures and standards.
  • Assist with department process improvement and peer review.
  • Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree or Diploma required; BSN preferred.
  • Registered Nurse license in the state of Michigan.
  • One to two years of progressively responsible experience with demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Proficient in prioritizing work, delegating tasks and facilitating processes.
  • Minimum Level 6 of the Promoting Excellence Performance Criteria; preferred for internal candidates.
  • BLS required; ACLS preferred.
