Position Overview

SAIC is seeking an Engineering Technician II for our Hanahan, SC location.

The Engineering Technician will provide semi‑professional technical support for engineers working in areas such as research, design, development, testing, or manufacturing process improvement. The work pertains to electrical, electronic, or mechanical components or equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide semi‑professional technical support for engineers working in such areas as research, design, development, testing, or manufacturing process improvement. Work pertains to electrical, electronic, or mechanical components or equipment.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree in Engineering Technology, math, or science; or Formal electronics training from Technical School; or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications; or four‑year electronics apprentice program; or High School diploma or GED.
  • Experience:

    Three (3) years with degree/formal training or five (5) years with HS/GED of practical experience to include design, preparation and modification of engineering documents and drawings. Individual shall have notable experience performing one or a combination of the following duties: constructing components, subunits, or simple models or adapting standard equipment; troubleshooting and correcting malfunctions; following specific layout and scientific diagrams; conducting various tests or experiments that may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures;

    selecting, preparing, and operating standard test equipment and recording test data; extracting and compiling engineering data from field notes, manuals, lab reports, etc.; processing data, identifying errors or inconsistencies; assisting in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials for specific items of equipment or component parts; developing information concerning previous operational failures and modifications, and using judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seeking sources to clarify information.

    Individual shall be capable of performing assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed, selecting or adapting standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents, receiving initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed, and performing recurring work independently. Work is reviewed for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions.
