The Adult Education Director drives student upward mobility and economic opportunity by leading, expanding, and optimizing the College’s Adult Education program. This role leads program innovation, budget administration, and staff development while collaborating with workforce development to create seamless pathways from foundational learning into academic credit programs and high-demand careers. The Director builds vital community relationships and ensures every aspect of the program delivers transformative, barrier-free learning while maintaining full compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.

Drive adult learner progress and community mobility by directing program planning, fiscal budgets, and team operations while fostering strong relationships with school systems, community partners, and ensuring full compliance with federal, state, and Board policies.

Accelerate student upward mobility by designing seamless, barrier-free pathways from education to high-demand careers through intentional community and employer partnerships, supporting the College’s mission and strategic priorities.

Build and sustain high-performing, equity-driven program infrastructure and funding streams that eliminate operational barriers and ensure long-term student completion.

Partner collaboratively with Instructional Deans and the Director of Workforce Initiatives to build integrated education and training pathways, ensuring seamless student transitions into college-credit programs and high-demand career pipelines.

Build and lead a high-performing Adult Education team by hiring, mentoring, and evaluating dedicated staff, fostering continuous professional development that directly improves instructional quality and student retention.

Drive student persistence and completion by maintaining high-quality learning spaces, equipping classrooms with essential educational tools, and ensuring accurate records that safeguard student eligibility and success.

Champion adult learning opportunities across the service region, driving awareness and building strong community connections to eliminate access barriers for the most hard-to-reach populations.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned, required, or directed by the College. The College reserves the right to assign additional tasks and to alter or reassign job duties as necessary to meet business and operational needs.

In order to perform these essential functions, the Director of Adult Education must be present refore, attendance is an essential function.

Master’s degree in education, educational administration, or adult education from a regionally accredited institution is required.

Minimum of three (3) years of full-time experience working in adult education or adult literacy is required. Previous college administrative experience is preferred.

Minimum three (3) years of supervisory or management experience is required.

Previous grant writing experience is preferred.

Must have strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with diverse individuals and groups; must have strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Must have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, the ability to supervise subordinates and work collaboratively with upper management, the ability to work in a busy environment, and the ability to work weekends or non-standard hours when required.

Must have the ability to use computer technology to communicate, access and maintain records, and create reports.

Must have an understanding and strong commitment to the community college philosophy.
