Job Title
Possess a valid California credential or meet requirements for an emergency substitute permit. Satisfy Basic Skills Requirement (BSR) by: BA degree, CBEST, ACT/SAT or qualifying coursework in reading, writing, and mathematics (courses must have been taken at a regionally-accredited college or university for credit, passed with a grade of B or better, be degree applicable, and be at least 3 semester units or 4 quarter units).
Copies of the exam results or official transcripts must be provided with your application. For out-of-state trained teachers, please give us a call to see if your out of state basic skills exams qualifies in lieu of the CBEST. The CBEST is given approximately every other month. Registration is on-line at Official Transcripts:
Transcripts showing the degree posted and education program/major, including student teaching if applicable, must be provided OR transcripts showing completed classes and classes you are currently enrolled in. Official transcripts must be sent directly from your college or university, or through Parchment, to crystal.marroquin. Transcripts sent or forwarded by the applicant will not be accepted. Please ensure the transcript is sent directly to the email address listed above.
Applicants are encouraged to notify Crystal by email that an official transcript request has been submitted. Grade reports are not acceptable. Possess a valid driver's license and maintain insurability. Must be able to provide your own reliable transportation to work sites within Kings County.

*** 1. Your Substitute Permit Options are:
A. Emergency Substitute Permit for Prospective Teachers:
This permit is for those of you who are currently enrolled in a California 4-year University and have not obtained a degree AND have passed CBEST. The fee for this permit is $102.65 payable by debit or credit card.
B. Emergency 30-day Substitute Permit:
This permit requires a bachelor's degree. The fee for this permit is $102.65 payable by debit or credit card, after the Credentials Analyst has submitted your online recommendation.
2. California Commission on Teacher Credential also requires a background clearance from the Department of Justice and the FBI. To be fingerprinted for employment and CTC it is a $100.00 fee paid by applicant in cash time of service.
