The Kings County Sheriff's Office is currently seeking qualified individuals for the position of:
DEPUTY SHERIFF I/II

SALARY:

Level I: $68,348.80 - $83,428.80 Annually

Level II: $75,524.80 - $92,164.80 Annually

The Kings County Sheriff’s Office is hiring Deputy Sheriff I/II positions to protect and serve our community through patrol, investigations, and public safety enforcement. Responsibilities
  • Patrols assigned areas to ensure the security of life and property, observes situations, and deters crime by providing high visibility; maintains good relations with the general public and interacts with the public to resolve issues, gain compliance, and build trust.
  • Responds to suspicious activities and answers calls for service.
  • Enforces state and local laws and ordinances; issues verbal warnings and citations; pursues and apprehends suspects and requests assistance as required.
  • Assists in crime scene control and investigation, including interviews and interrogations, identification of witnesses, and the collection and preservation of physical evidence; takes statements in connection with suspected criminal activities.
  • Restores order, protects life and property, and maintains the peace at public gatherings and in conflict situations.
  • Prepares and documents cases, completes reports, and forms, and prepares and maintains other logs and records.
  • Serves warrants and civil papers to County residents; researches and locates person to be served.
  • Assists and cooperates with other law enforcement agencies in investigations and arrests.
  • As assigned, serves as a court bailiff, including maintaining security and order in the courtroom and court premises, preserving order among participants and spectators during court proceedings, escorting the jury to and from areas outside the courtroom, calling participants to the stand and enforcing courtroom rules of behavior.
  • As assigned, supervises incarcerated persons at detention facility.
  • Transports persons to and from various locations such as jail, courts, hospitals, and other institutions.
  • Retrieves, identifies, and returns found property and/or evidence to owners.
  • Provides emergency aid and assistance to incapacitated persons, and requests additional response.
  • Provides information, directions, and other services and assistance to the public.
  • Coordinates with and serves as back up to other local law enforcement agencies.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
