Ice Rink Maintenance Technician (Overnight Site Monitor

The City of Hanford is seeking to fill six (6) seasonal vacancies for Ice Rink Maintenance Technician (Overnight Site Monitor) to work at Winter Wonderland (seasonal ice rink). This position is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of the city ice rink, including, but not limited to, maintaining the quality of the ice surface, performing routine maintenance tasks, and ensuring the safety and functionality of rink equipment.

This position is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of the city ice rink, including, but not limited to, maintaining the quality of the ice surface, performing routine maintenance tasks, and ensuring the safety and functionality of rink equipment.

Work is performed in an outdoor ice rink, which can be cold. The working hours will vary depending on the working assignment. The position may be assigned to work split shifts, evenings, early mornings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.

Please note these are part-time, temporary positions not to exceed 1,000 hours per fiscal year and afford no benefits.

Receives immediate supervision from an assigned supervisor; may receive technical and functional supervision from the Ice Rink Manager.

• Ice surface maintenance, including regularly inspecting and maintaining the ice surface to ensure optimal quality and safety.
• Resurfacing the ice rink utilizing Zamboni or other equipment, repairing cracks or imperfections, and managing the ice temperature and humidity.
• Operate and maintain rink equipment, including resurfacing machines, snow removal tools, and refrigeration systems.
• Performs routine inspections and minor repairs as needed.
• Maintain the overall cleanliness and functionality of the rink and surrounding areas, including the park, seating areas, and public restrooms.
• Ensure that all facilities comply with health and safety regulations.
• Monitor and manage supplies and equipment inventory. Order replacements and ensure all tools and materials are correctly stored and maintained.
• Assist with event setup and coordination as required.
• Maintains accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment usage, and any issues encountered.
• Prepare reports as needed for management review.
