The Kings County Department of Public Health is currently seeking qualified individuals for the position of:

Some duties, knowledge, skills, and abilities may be performed in a learning capacity for entry‑level (I Level) positions.
- Interviews and guides a diverse population of clients to determine program eligibility and residency status; reviews medical reports to implement physician orders and eligibility guidelines; provides referral source information to clients/families based on assessment of need; assists in the completion of required application and/or eligibility forms.
- Interprets and explains regulations, rules, and policies to clients; apprises clients of their rights, responsibilities and eligibility for program participation.
- Serves as liaison with other service providers including other public agencies, providers, managed care plans and families, and professional staff; maintains contact with various professional and social service providers to ensure linkage between cooperative agencies.
- Inputs necessary information into automated systems, organizes caseload, and takes required action with specific time limits established by regulation and local policy.
- Resolves problems between funding source, care providers and/or clients/families; collects program fees and schedules payment plans; prepares, sends, and monitors receipt of claims for payment to state funding agency.
- Provides training to less experienced staff and volunteers as assigned.
- Performs related duties as assigned.

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
Education and ExperienceEducation:
- Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.
Experience:
- Caseworker I:
One (1) year of responsible experience interviewing, determining eligibility, or providing administrative support and/or customer service, preferably in a healthcare or similar setting. - Caseworker II:
Two (2) years of experience in performing casework activities at a level equivalent to the classification of Caseworker I with Kings County.
Licenses:
- Possession of a valid California driver’s license issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles at the time of appointment.
