Systems Administrator, Cybersecurity
Position Summary
The Director of Computer Services is a hands‑on systems administrator and technology leader responsible for the design, security, availability, and daily operation of the institution’s IT infrastructure and core services. Under the CFO, this role leads the planning and execution of network, server, cloud, endpoint, and Microsoft 365 environments; establishes standards and controls; and ensures dependable support for students, faculty, and staff.
The Director supervises staff and coordinates with vendors. The Director manages priorities and budgets and actively participates in day‑to‑day administration, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of campus systems.
Employee must possess a vibrant, personal Christian faith including a clear testimony of Christian conversion and be actively involved in an evangelical (preferably Southern Baptist) church. Employee must abide by the policies and procedures found in the employee handbook.
Duties and Responsibilities- Provide director‑level leadership and accountability for reliable, secure, and scalable IT operations across campus.
- Translate institutional goals into technology roadmaps, lifecycle plans, and measurable service outcomes.
- Establish and maintain standards for system configuration, patching, backups, documentation, and change control.
- Prepare, manage, and monitor the technology budget, including renewals, licensing, and infrastructure refresh cycles.
- Manage contracts and relationships with technology vendors and service providers, ensuring performance, security requirements, and value.
- Systems, Infrastructure & Applications
- Administer and oversee network, server, virtualization, cloud, endpoint, and enterprise system environments.
- Ensure reliability, performance, and capacity through monitoring, patch management, configuration management, and proactive maintenance.
- Serve as an administrator for Microsoft‑based environments (Active Directory/Entra , Microsoft 365, email, collaboration, device management) and identity and access management.
- Oversee enterprise applications (including the Ellucian Colleague Student Information System) and coordinate upgrades, integrations, permissions, and vendor support.
- Own backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity readiness for core systems; test and document recovery procedures.
- Support institutional reporting and data access by maintaining secure data connections, roles, and technical documentation.
- Implement and enforce approved security controls to protect campus systems, accounts, and data across on‑prem and cloud services.
- Administer access controls (least privilege), account lifecycle processes, MFA/conditional access, privileged access management as applicable.
- Lead cybersecurity readiness, vulnerability management, risk mitigation, logging/monitoring, and incident response coordination.
- Support compliance with applicable data privacy and information security requirements through policy, training, audits, and documented procedures.
- Personnel & Operations
- Supervise and develop Computer Services personnel; set priorities, provide technical leadership, and ensure effective escalation paths.
- Coordinate technology resources to ensure effective service delivery, asset lifecycle management, and clear communication with departments.
- Ensure support coverage for infrastructure, applications, and end users, including participating in troubleshooting and after‑hours response as needed.
- Serve as the institutional representative to MOREnet and similar organizations; coordinate services, security posture, and technical initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise infrastructure and systems administration, including networking, Windows/Linux servers, virtualization, backups, and identity management.
- Experience administering Microsoft 365 and Microsoft‑based infrastructure (AD/Entra , email, collaboration, endpoint management) in a production environment.
- Ability to lead technical staff, manage vendors, and run IT operations using ticketing, documentation, change management, and service level expectations.
