About the Role:As Accounting Manager, you will oversee full-cycle accounting for multiple clients, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with GAAP. You will manage day-to-day bookkeeping activities, supervise workflows, and serve as a key point of contact for client financial matters. Your work will directly support strategic decision‑making for clients and help elevate the firm's accounting and advisory services.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage full‑cycle accounting for assigned clients, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and month‑end close.
- Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to GAAP.
- Maintain and improve client accounting systems and processes, including setup and optimization within Quick Books and related platforms.
- Coordinate and reconcile tax‑related data with GoSystems or CCH Axcess to support timely and accurate tax preparation.
- Serve as the primary accounting contact for clients, addressing questions, resolving issues, and providing proactive financial insight.
- Monitor cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting activities for clients, highlighting trends and variances.
- Collaborate with partners and tax professionals to align accounting records with tax strategies and compliance requirements.
- Mentor and review the work of junior staff or bookkeepers, ensuring quality and consistency across client engagements.
- Active CPA license.
- Minimum 5 years of public accounting experience with a focus on accounting, audit, or client advisory services.
- Proven proficiency in full‑charge bookkeeping and managing multiple client books simultaneously.
- Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and practical application in a client‑service environment.
- Hands‑on experience with Quick Books (Desktop and/or Online) for small to mid‑sized businesses.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret financial data and communicate insights clearly to non‑financial stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage competing client demands.
- Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.
- Experience with GoSystems or CCH Axcess tax software in a public accounting setting.
- Background transitioning between public accounting and industry roles (e.g., Controller, Accounting Manager, CFO).
- Prior experience owning the books for clients in a cloud‑based or outsourced accounting model.
- Familiarity with process improvement, automation tools, or workflow optimization within accounting functions.
- Experience working with a variety of industries and business structures (e.g., partnerships, S‑corps, closely held businesses).
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field (required).
- Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential (required).
- Master's degree in Accounting, Taxation, or Business Administration (preferred).
- Ongoing continuing professional education (CPE) relevant to accounting, GAAP, and tax (preferred).
