Automation Maintenance Technician – Hanover Park, IL

We have an opportunity for an Automation Maintenance Technician to join our Hanover Park, IL team. You will enhance a highly automated manufacturing environment by integrating new robotics, troubleshooting advanced equipment, and ensuring smooth installations. Focus on continuous improvement, GMP compliance, and Lean practices such as Gemba and Kaizen. As new technologies arrive, the role offers significant growth and ongoing skill development.
YouWill
- Support manufacturing production lines with technical expertise to ensure operations achieve business objectives.
- Provide guidance to operators, cell leads, and Production Manager regarding projects, process improvements, and line issues.
- Troubleshoot equipment such as robotics, conveyors, coaters, labelers, and presses.
- Work and adapt to new automation and robotic equipment coming into the facility.
- Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to ensure proper installation and operation of robotics and automation equipment.
- Maintain GMP standards and participate in continuous improvement activities, Gemba walks, and Kaizen circles.
- Identify root causes and develop strategies for eliminating recurring downtime.
- 5+ years of maintenance experience in an automated manufacturing environment.
- Ability to use electrical testing devices such as digital multimeters or oscilloscopes.
- Experience with electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical blueprints and schematics.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and plumbing equipment.
- Experience in robotics programming, troubleshooting, and diagnostics.
- Ability to identify root causes and make proactive recommendations for improved operation.
- Basic working knowledge of PLC programming and ladder logic.
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Strong English communication skills (speak, read, and write). Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
- Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift frequently 20–40 lbs. and infrequently 55–60 lbs. Must also be able to regularly bend, reach, lift, and walk for long periods of time.
- 1st shift: 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
The hourly pay for this role is $35.00 – $40.00/hr doe. Opportunity for a rate increase after proficiency in certain skills and completion of training. Actual pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, and experience.
