The Quality Supervisor leads day-to-day quality operations within a manufacturing environment, ensuring products consistently meet customer, industry, and regulatory requirements. This role maintains and improves quality systems and documentation, supervises a team of quality technicians and inspectors, and drives continuous improvement initiatives across production and manufacturing processes. The position combines hands‑on inspection and technical work with ownership of quality documentation, audits, and cross‑functional collaboration to reduce defects, scrap, and rework while supporting overall operational excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Lead daily quality operations across manufacturing and production activities to ensure consistent product performance and compliance with requirements.
  • Maintain, update, and improve quality systems, procedures, and work instructions to support standardized and reliable processes.
  • Monitor production quality metrics and key performance indicators, analyzing results to identify issues and implement improvements that reduce defects, scrap, and rework.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into quality issues, customer concerns, and process deviations, identifying root causes and implementing effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Perform internal quality audits and serve as a spokesperson for ISO documentation and audits, ensuring adherence to ISO 9001 and other applicable standards.
  • Support compliance with customer, industry, and regulatory quality requirements through robust documentation, audits, and process controls.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, operations, production, and supply chain teams to improve manufacturing processes and product quality.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and quality documentation to guide inspection activities and ensure product conformity.
  • Collect, review, and analyze quality data to identify trends, systemic issues, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Develop, maintain, and organize documentation related to inspections, audits, corrective actions, PPAP submissions, and overall quality performance.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop a team of approximately 5–7 quality technicians and inspectors, providing guidance, performance feedback, and training.
  • Promote and reinforce a culture of continuous improvement, quality ownership, and accountability across the quality team and broader operations.
  • Partner with suppliers to address material quality issues, perform supplier quality activities, and drive improvements in supplier performance.
  • Support customer‑facing quality activities, including issue resolution, corrective action responses, and preparation of quality performance reports.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, standardization, and operational excellence within the quality function and across manufacturing.
  • Balance technical documentation responsibilities with hands‑on quality work on the production floor, remaining comfortable and effective in both environments.
  • Utilize measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers to perform inspections and verify conformance to specifications.
  • Ensure that quality inspection activities are conducted accurately and consistently, and that nonconformances are documented and addressed promptly.
Essential Skills
  • Proven experience leading quality teams within a manufacturing environment, including direct supervision of quality technicians or inspectors.
  • Strong understanding of quality systems and quality management principles, including ISO 9001 requirements and implementation.
  • Hands‑on experience conducting audits, including internal audits and support for external or customer audits.
  • Demonstrated expertise in root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and quality documentation to guide inspection and quality decisions.
  • Experience working cross‑functionally with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
