Client Overview:
Our client, a global luxury retail brand, is seeking a Freelance Credit Operations Specialist to join their team in Whippany, New Jersey. The position operates on a schedule of 10:30 AM – 7:00 PM, with an eventual Saturday rotation.
Role Overview :The Credit Operations Specialist is responsible for processing credit applications and reviewing referred transactions for credit approval. This role supports multiple business channels while ensuring compliance with departmental, company, and multi-jurisdictional requirements.
Must have experience in customer service and reviewing credit applications.
Credit Operations Specialist Responsibilities:- Analyze applicants' financial status and review credit profiles to determine approval or denial of credit lines, ensuring financial risk is mitigated.
- Apply critical thinking to gather key information through questioning and research tools to determine optimal credit terms and identify potential fraud.
- Evaluate existing account status, update credit profiles, and validate information to approve or deny referred transactions.
- Conduct due diligence on referred checks to assess financial exposure and support decision‑making on self‑risking checks.
- Execute and document manual adjustments to prepaid access cards during system issues or offline scenarios to ensure uninterrupted service.
- Provide internal stakeholders with guidance on credit procedures to ensure compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and industry standards.
- Respond to external customer inquiries via phone, mail, and email, ensuring issues are thoroughly researched, resolved, and clearly documented.
- Collaborate across departments to resolve issues by leveraging internal knowledge and contact points.
Qualifications:
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to assess financial risk.
- Experience reviewing credit applications, financial profiles, or transaction authorizations.
- Knowledge of fraud detection practices and risk mitigation strategies.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to support internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven customer service experience handling inquiries across multiple channels.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accuracy in a fast‑paced environment.
- Familiarity with regulatory, compliance, and industry standards related to credit operations.
- Proficiency with research tools and systems used in credit decisioning.
