Purpose of the role
To apply software engineering techniques, automation, and best practices in incident response to ensure the reliability, availability, and scalability of the systems, platforms, and technology through them.
Accountabilities- Availability, performance, and scalability of systems and services through proactive monitoring, maintenance, and capacity planning.
- Resolution, analysis, and response to system outages and disruptions, and implementation of measures to prevent repeat incidents.
- Development of tools and scripts to automate operational processes, reducing manual workload, increasing efficiency, and improving system resilience.
- Monitoring and optimisation of system performance and resource usage, identification and resolution of bottlenecks, and implementation of best practices for performance tuning.
- Collaboration with development teams to integrate best practices for reliability, scalability, and performance into the software development lifecycle, and working closely with other teams to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Staying informed of industry technology trends and innovations, and actively contributing to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.

Requires in‑depth technical knowledge and experience in the assigned area of expertise, a thorough understanding of the underlying principles and concepts, and the ability to lead and supervise a team, guiding and supporting professional development, allocating work, and coordinating team resources.

Key Responsibilities- Manage all major incidents impacting Group Finance applications, including follow‑up to identify root cause and remediation actions.
- Work closely with BTB teams to ensure that priority problems are addressed in a timely manner.
- Conduct regular Service Review meetings with BTB / Finance management, covering all aspects of service management.
- Manage Risk & Control / Audit activities and ensure deliverables are met on time.
- Ensure Knowledge Management procedures are followed correctly, keep the knowledge base up to date, highlight gaps and arrange training as required.
- Manage service transition activity, ensuring new applications or releases into production meet acceptance criteria and operational deliverables prior to handover.
- Perform regular Capacity Management reviews for regulatory systems.
- Provide Service Level Management and ensure all operational services are monitored and measured consistently.
- Produce reports on service performance for customers and users.
- Identify, manage, and implement improvements to the support model to deliver a more efficient and effective service to clients.
- Ensure applications/software environments are fully maintained with appropriately supported updates, patches, and service packs in line with corporate system maintenance policies.
