Overview

Embark on a high-impact opportunity as a Sr. AWS Cloud Engineer, where you will help accelerate Barclays’ cloud modernization by designing and delivering secure, scalable, and resilient AWS solutions that power critical business capabilities. In this role, you will work with cloud technologies, enabling faster delivery, improved reliability, and enhanced customer experiences across the organization. This is a unique opportunity for engineers to deepen their AWS experience while directly influencing large-scale transformations and building next-generation platforms at enterprise scale.

Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver secure, scalable, and resilient AWS-based solutions that power critical business capabilities.
  • Work with cloud technologies to enable faster delivery, improved reliability, and enhanced customer experiences across the organization.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration with business objectives.
  • Participate in code reviews and promote a culture of quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities.
  • Adhere to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities and protect sensitive data.
  • Implement effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
Qualifications
  • Experience with software development building enterprise-grade applications.
  • Java & Spring frameworks, with solid experience in microservices architecture.
  • AWS Cloud Services including MSK, EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, Dynamo

    DB; understanding networking concepts and Cloud Formation to design and deploy scalable applications.
  • Messaging platforms and integrations such as Kafka, Webhooks and events streaming.
  • Knowledge of observability practices (logging, metrics, tracing) using tools like Cloud Watch, Prometheus/Grafana, Telemetry or equivalent tools (highly valued).
  • Exposure to financial domain concepts, particularly Core Processors such as TSYS, FDR, FIS (valued).
Additional Skills
  • AI enthusiast with an understanding of Agentic-AI fundamentals and frameworks (valued).
  • Experience with risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, and digital/technology skills.
Location & Compensation

This role is located in Whippany, NJ.

Minimum Salary: $120,000

Maximum Salary: $175,000

The salary information above includes base salary or base hourly rate and does not include other compensation or benefits that may be available.

  • Advise and influence decision making, contribute to policy development, and collaborate with other functions/business divisions.
  • Lead a team or guide collaborative assignments, identifying the need for other areas of specialization and cross-functional methodologies to achieve outcomes.
  • Consult on complex issues to support resolution of escalated issues and mitigate risk.
  • Strengthen controls in relation to the work performed and coordinate with related areas to meet objectives.
