Overview

Senior Technical Lead – AWS. Responsible for designing, developing, and improving software that delivers business, platform, and technology capabilities across Barclay's organization. Plays a pivotal role in Barclays' cloud modernization strategy, shaping future core platforms, and coaching high‑performing teams.

• Develop and deliver high‑quality, scalable, maintainable, and performance‑optimized software solutions using industry‑standard programming languages, frameworks, and tools.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with product managers, designers, and engineers to define requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration aligned with business objectives.
• Participate in code reviews, promote a culture of code quality, and conduct unit testing to ensure code reliability and readability.
• Adhere to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities and protect sensitive data.
• Stay informed on technology trends, contribute to technical communities, and foster a culture of technical excellence.

• Solid experience with Java and Spring frameworks, micro‑services architecture.
• Proficiency in AWS Cloud services including MSK, EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, Dynamo
  
  DB, networking concepts, and Cloud Formation for scalable application design.
• Experience with messaging platforms and integrations – Kafka, Webhooks, event streaming.
• Deep understanding of enterprise system integrations – API, events, files, and business workflows.
• Knowledge of observability practices (logging, metrics, tracing) using tools such as Cloud Watch, Prometheus/Grafana, or equivalent.
• Familiarity with AI fundamentals and frameworks; AI enthusiast.
• Experience in the financial domain, particularly core processors such as TSYS, FDR, FIS.
• Strong risk‑management, control, and governance perspective; ability to influence large‑scale engineering decisions.

Base salary: $120,000 – $175,000 per year.

Salary includes no additional compensation or benefits. Employee benefits include medical, dental, vision coverage, 401(k), life insurance, paid leave, and other paid leave for qualifying circumstances. The position is eligible for an incentive award.
