Software Engineer - AVP

Job Description

Purpose:

To design, develop and improve software utilizing various engineering methodologies to provide business, platform, and technology capabilities for customers and colleagues.

• Develop and deliver high‑quality software solutions using industry‑aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools.
• Ensure code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with product managers, designers, and engineers to define software requirements and solution strategies.
• Participate in code reviews, promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations, contribute to technology communities.
• Follow secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities and protect sensitive data.
• Implement effective unit testing practices to ensure code design, readability, and reliability.
• Support the Run the Bank (RTB) team and handle urgent production issues for Barclays’s Enterprise Security Master (ESM).
• Develop and support applications following Barclays Way methodologies, managing change requests and client requests via Jira.
• Assist in onboarding activities for Barclays Reference Data systems and ensure product functionality meets business requirements.
• Integrate data distribution with latest technologies for global use; serve as US SME for regulatory reporting and trading desk data applications.
• Mentor developers, provide technical guidance and training.
• Collaborate with clients to gather requirements, present updates, and provide post‑implementation support.
• Hybrid or telecommute in accordance with company policies.

Lead or contribute to complex assignments, guide team members, identify new directions, mitigate risk, develop policies or procedures, and manage controls to support governance.

Participate in all aspects of software delivery, including analysis, requirements gathering, design, development, testing, and handover to production support.

Contribute to “Barclays Way” methodologies, change request lifecycle management, and collaborate with clients.

Minimum Salary: $189,592 per year. Maximum Salary: $195,000 per year.

The stated amounts include only base salary. Additional compensation may be available. Eligible for incentive award.
