AVP, Back End Engineer

Purpose of the Role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

• Development and delivery of high‑quality software solutions using industry‑aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools.
• Ensuring code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
• Cross‑functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and align with business objectives.
• Participation in code reviews and promotion of a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Staying informed of industry technology trends and innovations and contributing to the organization’s technical excellence.
• Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities and protect sensitive data.
• Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

• Advise and influence decision making, contribute to policy development, and take responsibility for operational effectiveness.
• Collaborate closely with other functions/business divisions.
• Lead a team performing complex tasks, setting objectives, coaching employees, and determining reward outcomes.

• As an individual contributor, lead collaborative assignments, guide team members, and explore new directions for projects.

• Work with relational databases including Postgres/Oracle, No
  
  SQL databases, MongoDB/DynamoDB.
• Dive into server‑side application logic and integration with front‑end.
• Design, develop, and test resilient and scalable solutions for hybrid environments such as Private cloud (Open Shift) and Public cloud (AWS, Azure).
• Build micro‑services and APIs using REST/GraphQL.
• Use a technology stack that may include Java, Spring Boot, Python, Django, C#, C++, .NET, Node.js, Go.
• Apply test‑driven development, write top‑quality and well‑tested code, and implement automated tests.
• Use containerization technologies, including Docker.
