Job DescriptionSouth Shore Technical High School anticipates the need for a part‑time, school‑year Administrative Assistant to serve as an administrative/secretarial resource in support of the District’s administrators as assigned, as well as primary responsibility for the reception functions of the Main Office.
The Administrative Assistant reports to the Principal and works in concert with all Main Office staff to develop and maintain efficient office management techniques and ensure that the District’s daily and long‑term administrative requirements are met.
This is a part‑time, school‑year position, part of the Unit B Support Bargaining Unit. The start date is September 1, 2026.
Schedule:
35 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 7:15 AM - 2:45 PM on days when school is in session. Summer hours may be needed. Compensation is based on the Unit B Support Unit Contract and its salary scale. The District offers a comprehensive benefits package; membership in the Plymouth County Retirement System is required.

Qualifications and Skills- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent administrative office skills including expertise with MS Office applications, database management, internet, email, and office equipment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High degree of organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize and handle diverse tasks.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team as circumstances require.
- Ability to take initiative, exercise sound judgment and make decisions within scope of authority.
- Ability to relate positively with members of the public, parents, staff and students.
- Maintain high level of confidentiality.
- Experience working in a school office environment.
- Ability to relate to adolescents and use discretion in dealing with them.
- Answer and direct incoming telephone calls via the District's switchboard.
- Direct students, parents, vendors and other visitors upon entrance to the building, ensuring security measures are followed.
- Handle telephone calls and correspondence for administrators as assigned.
- Maintain and update administrative/student records.
- Manage administrators’ calendars, schedule appointments, meetings and notify all parties involved.
- Utilize various computer software programs, including Power School and Google Drive applications, for District and school functions.
- Adhere to required deadlines.
- Other duties as deemed necessary by the District.
- Individuals who may have direct and unmonitored contact with students of the South Shore Regional School District are required, as a pre‑condition to employment, to undergo criminal background checks as provided by Massachusetts General Law Chapter 71, §38R and 603 CMR 51.
- At least 1 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
