The Center School Special Education Administrator provides leadership and oversight for the implementation of special education programs and services within the school, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and alignment with district goals. The administrator collaborates with teachers, related service providers, families, and other administrators to support inclusive practices, facilitate student-centered planning, oversee Individualized Education Program (IEP) development and implementation, and promote equitable access to educational opportunities.

The administrator monitors student progress, supports problem-solving and intervention processes, coordinates specialized services, and fosters a collaborative school culture that advances positive outcomes for students with disabilities.

General Responsibilities:

Provide Leadership for Special Education Services:
Oversee the scheduling, planning, implementation, and evaluation of special education programs and services
Ensure Compliance with Special Education Laws and Regulations:
Monitor adherence to federal and state special education requirements, including IDEA, Section 504, and Massachusetts special education regulations, while maintaining accurate documentation and records
Supervise and Support Staff:
Provide supervision, evaluation, coaching, and professional support to special education teachers, related service providers, paraprofessionals, and other assigned staff
Facilitate Student Support and IEP Processes:
Oversee the development, implementation, and review of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), chair team meetings as assigned, and ensure services are delivered in accordance with student needs and legal requirements
Promote Inclusive Educational Practices:
Collaborate with general education and special education staff to support inclusive programming, co-teaching models, differentiated instruction, and access to the general education curriculum
Collaborate with Families and Community Partners:
Foster positive relationships with families, outside agencies, and community organizations to support student success, effective communication, and coordinated services
