Purpose and Impact
This team is focused on providing cloud-based geolocation solutions in near‑real‑time directly to decision makers and warfighters around the world. They define requirements and determine solutions to enhance capabilities and integrate applications and data formats. With this team, you’ll have the opportunity to exercise your skills in all facets of the systems engineering life cycle including requirements gathering, system design, testing, artifact development, and deployment in cloud environments.
WorkSchedule
Monday‑Friday, 8 hours a day, 5 days per week.
Essential Responsibilities- Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure (e.g., modernization, migration, roadmaps) ensuring systems follow best practices and governance.
- Build reusable modules (Helm Charts, Terraform, etc.) and enforce development standards for Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Continuously monitor infrastructure health and performance using logging and alerting; identify issues and implement solutions for improved efficiency.
- Provide strategies for failure/recovery (backup, high availability), cost optimization (tagging, budgets, rightsizing, autoscaling) and benefit analysis of cloud services.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system capabilities and efficiency.
- Contribute to deliverables (architectures, runbooks, operational procedures) and performance metrics; transfer knowledge to internal teams.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and recommend enhancements to current systems.
- Proven progressive responsibility and experience with provisioning, configuring, and managing cloud infrastructure and services (compute, storage, networking, IAM).
- Designing and implementing secure, scalable cloud architectures.
- Developing and maintaining IaC using tools such as Terraform, Cloud Formation, AWS CDK, etc.
- Knowledge of containers and platform workloads (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS/AKS/GKE).
- Configuring monitoring, logging, and alerting (Cloud Watch, Prometheus/Grafana, ELK/Open Search) and responding to incidents.
- Implementing and testing backup, disaster recovery, and high‑availability strategies.
- Managing secrets and key management with tools such as KMS/Key Vault/Secret Manager, certificates, and rotation policies.
- Optimizing cloud cost and performance (tagging, budgets, rightsizing, autoscaling) and producing usage/cost reports.
- Troubleshooting cloud infrastructure issues across networking (DNS, routing, VPN), security, and service limits.
- Documenting architectures, runbooks, and operational procedures.
- Experience with Linux OS.
TS/SCI with polygraph.
Minimum EducationBachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university. Five (5) years of additional SE experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
Minimum Years of ExperienceTwenty (20) years’ experience as a SE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity. Demonstrated experience in planning and leading Systems Engineering efforts.
#javelinCompensation: $256,000 – $300,000. The compensation range is a good‑faith estimate of what the company intends to offer for this role. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
