Position Summary

Starbucks Team Leader at Target – responsible for ensuring a consistent guest experience by managing food and beverage operations, inventory, and team performance. The role supports daily sales, quality standards, and health & safety requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Understand sales goals and plan and execute daily/weekly workload to support department and store sales and guest engagement.
  • Plan food service transitions, revisions, sales plans, sampling, promotions, and price change workload.
  • Work a schedule that aligns to guest and business needs (including early mornings, evenings, overnight shifts, and weekends).
  • Assign daily tasks to team members based on planned workload and guest traffic patterns.
  • Assess food service back‑of‑house, production areas, dining spaces and merchandising spaces to ensure food safety and proper inventory levels.
  • Walk Food & Beverage Standards and Food Service routines daily to assess priorities and review reporting.
  • Follow all food safety requirements and cleaning routines, including monitoring and recording temperature‑sensitive food items according to Target policies.
  • Validate and follow up on team members’ progress against department checklists and routines.
  • Lead team to uphold and maintain Starbucks and Pizza Hut Brand Standards and production specifications.
  • Foster productive relationships with district managers, attend required in‑store planning and business meetings.
  • Ensure accurate in‑stocks by placing store‑initiated orders according to best practices.
  • Follow proper perishable inventory management procedures and make production quantity decisions just‑in‑time.
  • Remain up‑to‑date on relevant trends and products to educate team members.
  • Participate in team hiring and onboarding processes.
  • Establish clear goals and expectations and hold team members accountable.
  • Complete required Starbucks and/or Pizza Hut training requirements and certifications, and maintain Food Safety Manager Certification.
  • Lead and demonstrate a safety culture through modeling and recognizing safe behaviors, identifying and correcting hazards, and reporting injuries promptly.
  • Demonstrate inclusivity, authentic and respectful behavior, and equitable experiences for all team members and guests.
  • Model physical security processes to enhance the in‑store security culture.
  • Support merchandise protection strategies across the store.
  • Address all store emergency and compliance needs.
  • Support guest services such as back‑up cashier, order pick‑up, and drive‑up, maintaining compliance culture.
  • Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests and engaging with them as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Age 18 or older.
  • Previous retail experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong interest and knowledge of the food service business.
  • Ability to lead and hold others accountable.
  • Communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology equipment as directed.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
  • Remain focused and composed in a fast‑paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established time frames.
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and team members.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Accurately handle cash register operations as needed.
  • Climb up and down ladders as needed.
  • Scan, handle and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including lifting up to 44 pounds.
  • Flexible work schedule (nights, weekends, holidays); reliable and prompt and regular attendance necessary.
  • Ability to work in environments ranging from 34°F to –10°F and in spaces where allergens may be present.
  • Capable of working in and exposure to varying temperatures, humidity and other elements while performing duties such as drive‑up and carry‑out.
  • Remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift.
