Senior Level Software Engineer - SPLUNK

Purpose and Impact

Our contract supports more than 12 efforts with varying levels of hardware and software development requirements. Projects focus on front‑end equipment configuration/maintenance, back‑end repositories, front‑end dashboards, and everything in between for the full data processing thread. Teams range from one to two developers to a team of 12. All teams work right alongside our customers to discuss requirements, identify solutions, and choose the way forward for implementation.

This position is for a software developer with experience integrating and reporting data utilizing SPLUNK.

Monday – Friday. Specific start/end times can be determined by the candidate and the team to meet scheduling needs.

• Develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems based on documented requirements.
• Review and test software components for adherence to design requirements and document test results.
• Resolve software problem reports.
• Utilize appropriate software development and design methodologies.
• Provide inputs to system design, including hardware/software trade‑offs, software reuse, and COTS/GOTS usage.
• Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.
• Create and modify software to add new features, debug defects, and integrate existing software into new or modified systems.
• Develop simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositories.
• Recommend improvements for documentation and software development process standards.
• Develop or implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards.
• Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components.
• Write or review software and system documentation.
• Analyze system performance standards and work processes to improve performance.
• Modify existing software to correct errors, adapt to new hardware, or improve performance.
• Design, develop, and modify software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models.
• Design or implement complex database or data repository interfaces/queries.
• Oversee one or more software development teams and ensure work is completed according to the software development process constraints on any particular project.
• Perform quality control on team products and coordinate software system installation and monitoring of equipment functioning.

• Three or more years of experience with SPLUNK.
• Three or more years of C++ experience.
• Fourteen or more years of relevant Java programming experience, including at least two years of Java 1.7+ and development of presentation tiers.
• Two or more years of experience using Spring and JavaScript.
• Five or more years of JSP and servlet programming experience.
• Five or more years of experience with JEE and enterprise web application design and development.
• Five or more years of experience designing and writing REST‑ful applications.
• Ability to create and deploy applications in an Apache Tomcat web server.
• One or more years of experience using JavaScript presentation libraries such as jQuery, Angular, and EXTJS.
• One or more years of experience with MongoDB and Apache Camel (desired).
• TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
• Nineteen (19) years of experience required. Four additional years required if the candidate does not have a bachelor’s degree in a technical field.

• Experience with Docker, Maven, Git Lab, and CI/CD processes.

Compensation range: $200,000 – $275,000, based on experience, education, and market data.
