In this role, you will:

  • Help customers understand assessment procedures, filing deadlines, tax credits, exemptions, and available public records while referring complex valuation and legal matters to the Assessor.
  • Maintain accurate property information within the Town's Computer-Assisted Mass Appraisal (CAMA) system and related databases, including ownership records, assessments, permits, inspections, and sales information.
  • Process property transfers by reviewing deeds, updating ownership records, and coordinating mapping or GIS corrections when needed.
  • Enter and verify appraisal and inspection information while helping notify property owners of assessment value changes.
  • Assist residents with tax credit and exemption programs by processing applications, maintaining records, tracking deadlines, and updating approved accounts for accurate tax billing.
  • Maintain Current Use, timber tax, and excavation tax records, including required documentation, correspondence, reporting, and coordination with the New Hampshire Department of Revenue Administration.
  • Organize and maintain both paper and electronic property records, tax maps, deeds, permits, sales information, exemptions, and related documentation in accordance with record retention requirements.
  • Prepare monthly sales reports and maintain departmental records, spreadsheets, and the Assessing Department website, including annual mapping updates.
  • Assist with the preparation and accuracy review of Property Tax Warrants.
  • Provide administrative support to the Board of Assessors by coordinating meetings, preparing agendas and materials, maintaining records, and processing follow-up documentation.
  • Receive and process departmental payments in accordance with Town procedures.
  • Schedule inspections, appointments, meetings, and property visits for assessing staff.
  • Prepare correspondence and notarize documents when required.
  • Stay current on New Hampshire assessing laws, Department of Revenue Administration rules, Assessing Standards Board requirements, Town policies, and departmental software.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
