The Program and Community Coordinator for the Office of Military and Veteran Support assists the Director with planning, implementing, and improving programs, services, and support for Dartmouth's military-connected community. The Coordinator supports event planning, outreach and communications, student engagement, and administrative and project coordination. The Coordinator also serves as an accessible point of connection for students, helping connect them with campus resources and opportunities while fostering community across Dartmouth.
This is a 0.5 FTE, three-year term position.
Bachelors plus 1-2 year(s) of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Bachelor's degree with two years of relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating and executing programs, events, projects, or other initiatives, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience working with college or university students or in a higher education environment, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and community partners.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines, work independently, take initiative, and demonstrate strong follow-through and reliability.
- Experience supporting community-building, student engagement, or outreach initiatives with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.
- Ability to recognize when students may benefit from additional support and connect them with appropriate resources.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Teams.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
- Military service or experience working with veterans, service members, military families, or military-connected communities.
- Familiarity with military and veteran culture and the experiences of military-connected students.
- Familiarity with VA, Department of Defense, and other resources available to service members, veterans, and their families.
- Experience providing administrative or operational support in a higher education, nonprofit, or similarly complex organization.
- Experience collecting and assessing program data, maintaining records, and preparing reports.
- Experience coordinating across multiple departments, offices, or external partners.
- Experience with communications, outreach, or maintaining digital content and resources.
