The Assistant Director for Leadership and Assessmentis a key member of Dartmouth College’s Office of Greek Life and Student Societies, responsible for supporting and enhancing the fraternity, sorority, and student society experience through strategic oversight ofGLASSleadership programs, annual accreditation, and chapter/council assessment and operations. This role provides leadership and guidance to Greek organizations and student societies, ensuring they foster an inclusive, safe, and values-driven environment for students while aligning with divisional and institutional priorities.

The Assistant Director collaborates with student leaders, alumni advisors, and campus partners to promote responsible chapter management, effective leadership, and a culture of accountability within the Greek community.

Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp:

Masters or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
  • At least 2 years of experience in fraternity/sorority life, student leadership development, residential life or related student affairs functions.
  • Knowledge of best practices in Greek Life, student leadership, and assessment practices.
  • Exhibit a strong adherence to best practices, including

    AFACore Competencies,NASPAandACPAProfessional Competency Areas for Student Affairs Practitioners, andCASStandards
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with students, alumni, and campus partners.
  • Experience advising student organizations, developing educational programs, and improving systems and policies through assessment work.
  • Commitment to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and equitable campus environment.
Job Description:

Leadership Development & Education
  • Designs, implements, and assesses comprehensive chapter, council, leadership, and advisor education programs that align with Dartmouth’s values and community expectations.
  • Provides training, resources, and ongoing support for chapters and student societies to create engaging, safe, and inclusive member experiences.
  • Collaborates with campus partners (e.g., Undergraduate Housing, Residential Operations, Residential Education, Community Standards, Department of Safety and Security, Undergraduate Deans Office, Office of Student Life, Office of Pluralism and Leadership) to integrate risk management, event management, and leadership development into ongoing educational offerings.
  • Facilitate the annual transition of leadership for all GLASS organizations through onboarding, goal setting, stakeholder collaboration, and adherence to the GLASS accreditation program.
Community Assessment & Strategy
  • Works with governing councils and student leaders to enhance the Greek and student society experience, fostering student development and belonging.
  • Assists in planning and executing Greek and student society-wide events, including accreditation and recognition programs.
  • Utilizes assessment strategies to evaluate the impact of Greek Life and student society initiatives and recommend improvements.
  • Collaborates with the Office of Student Life to expand leadership development opportunities.
  • Maintains accurate records ofGLASSorganizations’ operations and accreditation status
  • Supports institutional risk management efforts by monitoring trends, addressing concerns, and ensuring policy adherence.
Council & Organization Support
  • Serve as the primary advisor for three councils within theGLASScommunity.
  • Oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of council-wide recruitment/intake processes.
  • Advises chapters on best practices for recruitment, operations, leadership development, and risk management through

    GLASSCoaching program.
  • Tracks and analyzes recruitment data to improve participation and inclusivity.
  • Serves as a primary resource for organizations in maintaining compliance with institutional policies, national organization standards, and local/state regulations.
  • Facilitates workshops and individualized advising on recruitment, financial management, and conflict resolution.
Office Administration & Operations
  • Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness through actions, interactions, and communications with others.
  • Contributes to strategic planning efforts for the Office of Greek Life and Student Societies and serves on campus committees as needed.
