Purpose:
The Assistant Director for Leadership and Assessment is a key member of Dartmouth College’s Office of Greek Life and Student Societies, responsible for supporting and enhancing the fraternity, sorority, and student society experience through strategic oversight of GLASS leadership programs, annual accreditation, and chapter/council assessment and operations. This role provides leadership and guidance to Greek organizations and student societies, ensuring they foster an inclusive, safe, and values-driven environment for students while aligning with divisional and institutional priorities.
The Assistant Director collaborates with student leaders, alumni advisors, and campus partners to promote responsible chapter management, effective leadership, and a culture of accountability within the Greek community.
Masters or equivalent combination of education and experience
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities- At least 2 years of experience in fraternity/sorority life, student leadership development, residential life or related student affairs functions.
- Knowledge of best practices in Greek Life, student leadership, and assessment practices.
- Exhibit a strong adherence to best practices, including AFA Core Competencies, NASPA and ACPA Professional Competency Areas for Student Affairs Practitioners, and CAS Standards.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with students, alumni, and campus partners.
- Experience advising student organizations, developing educational programs, and improving systems and policies through assessment work.
- Commitment to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and equitable campus environment.
- Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, or a related field preferred.
- Membership in a Greek organization or student society.
- Experience working with Greek organizations and understanding of their values, rituals, structures, and recruitment/intake processes.
- Strong understanding of risk management and safety protocols for large events.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations and adapt to changing circumstances quickly.
