Job Description

Hanover High School is looking for a full‑time Library/Media Assistant to work in our library assisting faculty and staff with circulation, audiovisual, and computer services. This position also provides student supervision and assists with processing books and material loans. The ideal candidate will provide a well‑organized, smoothly functioning library environment in which staff and students can take full advantage of available resources.

The position begins 8/20/2026 and remains open until filled.

This position is governed by the HSS/NEA‑NH Union Agreement.

This is a school year position with an hourly range of $19.91 to $26.12 depending on education and experience.

Applicants will be subjected to a criminal background check as required by state law.

Position Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work with students within the classroom environment or other settings to assist in completion of lessons and implement goals and objectives.
  • Provide individual and/or small group instructional support as directed by professional staff.
  • Assist substitutes with teacher's sub plans, class lists, attendance, and photocopying.
  • Assist with clerical duties as assigned.
  • Provide support in the department resource center.
  • Monitor department equipment and supplies.
  • Participate in scheduled meetings, as requested.
  • Assist teacher(s) in maintaining appropriate classroom behavior or monitoring specific behavior management plans.
  • Accompany students on field trips or to job sites.
  • Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, and break periods.
  • Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.
  • Participate in in‑service programs, as assigned.
  • Assist the teacher in devising strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on an understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.
  • Recognize that student progress and records are confidential and must be discussed only with appropriate school personnel.
  • Recognize that all communication with parents and other third parties regarding students shall not be the responsibility of the assistant and shall be conducted only by the professional staff.
  • Perform other duties and accept responsibilities as assigned.
  • Must comply with all SAU 70 District policies and building/department rules, procedures, practices, and objectives.
Evaluation

Evaluation will be completed by the Building Administrator or designee and based on professional performance and effectiveness in carrying out the responsibilities of the position.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience: Associate’s Degree or equivalent

Necessary

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of general concepts of child growth and development
  • Knowledge of specific subject area content as required in the job assignment
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instruction
  • Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with students and staff
Licensure and Certification Requirements

NH Para‑educator certification preferred.
