Job Description

As a School Psychologist, you will play a pivotal role in supporting students' academic, social, and emotional development within an educational setting. This position involves conducting comprehensive psychological evaluations, collaborating with educators and families to develop individualized intervention plans, interpreting complex data to guide instructional strategies, facilitating crisis intervention when necessary, and ensuring all services align with state and federal special education regulations.

Education and Experience
  • Minimum:
    Master’s degree in psychology from an accredited school of psychology (or equivalent training)
  • Preferred:
    Doctoral degree in psychology from an accredited school of psychology
  • Two to Four (2‑4) years of relevant experience
  • Valid New Hampshire teacher certification, including endorsement of School Psychologist
  • Doctoral applicants – New Hampshire & Vermont clinical licensure preferred
Position Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work with students and their families to:
    • Identify and address learning and behavior problems that interfere with school success
    • Evaluate eligibility for special education services (within a multidisciplinary team)
    • Support students' social, emotional, and behavioral health
    • Provide counseling and specialized instruction for those struggling with social, emotional, and behavioral problems
    • Promote wellness and resilience by reinforcing communication and social skills, problem solving, anger management, self-regulation, self-determination, and optimism with individuals and groups, as indicated
    • Make referrals and help coordinate community support services
    • Make appropriate assessments and referrals for suspected abuse/neglect as a mandated reporter
  • Work with teachers to:
    • Identify and resolve academic barriers to learning
    • Design and implement student progress monitoring systems
    • Design and implement academic and behavioral interventions
    • Support effective individualized instruction
    • Create positive and trauma-sensitive classroom environments
    • Motivate all students to engage in learning
    • Recommend modifications of the school program for students who require accommodations
  • Work with administrators to:
    • Implement school-wide prevention programs that help maintain positive school climates conducive to learning
    • Promote school policies and practices that ensure the safety of all students by reducing school violence, bullying, and harassment
    • Respond to crises by providing leadership, direct services, and coordination with needed community services
    • Design, implement, and garner support for comprehensive school mental health programming
    • Coordinate Restorative Practices services
  • Work with community providers to:
    • Coordinate the delivery of services to students and families inside and outside of school
    • Help students transition to and from school and community learning environments, such as residential treatment or juvenile justice programs
    • Initiate contact with and act as a liaison between home, school, community health agencies, and the private medical sector to enhance the health and wellness of the school community
  • Collaborate in a professional learning community with other teachers, support staff, and others to address student needs, develop effective practices, and implement best practices
  • Actively participate in faculty and grade level or department meetings, assist building efforts to plan, budget, implement, and evaluate the school’s program, and perform related work as required
  • Observe student needs and engage appropriate staff when students are at risk due to bullying, sexual harassment/misconduct, depression or suicide ideation, or academic failure; serve as a positive role model
  • Assist in the supervision of students at school activities and events, remain vigilant throughout the school day, and engage students when acting inappropriately or in inappropriate locations
