Graduate Program Coordinator
Location:
Hanover, NH. Employment:
Full Time, Regular, Non-Exempt.
Schedule:
40 hours per week, 12 months. Remote eligibility:
Hybrid.
Serves as a member of the Academic Advising unit within the Academic & Student Affairs team, working closely with the Thayer Registrar and Assistant Registrar to maintain and monitor graduate student records, tracking student progress through degree requirements and other academic aspects, utilizing various systems and communicating with faculty and students.
Key Responsibilities- Tracks and maintains records of MS and PhD student requirements, ensuring completion of milestones.
- Drafts PhD progress letters and academic standing letters.
- Maintains records related to student funding and coordinates with Thayer Admissions, Finance, and Research Administration, identifying gaps and solutions.
- Reviews student enrollment each term and resolves issues.
- Responds to student inquiries regarding program requirements and degree progress.
- Facilitates termly graduate student notices of assignment.
- Maintains awareness of student union rules and regulations.
- Acts as primary contact for MS/PhD students regarding degree requirements.
- Maintains graduate student listservs.
- Works with Assistant Registrar to maintain key records.
- Distributes and processes student feedback and graduation requirement surveys.
- Serves as backup to Assistant Registrar on time-sensitive functions.
- Assists with orientation programming, Thayer Investiture, Commencement, and other events.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least three years of higher education experience with a high degree of autonomy.
- Experience using Google and Microsoft Office (Excel/Sheets).
- Comfortable manipulating data and numbers in a financial context.
- Exceptional organizational skills, ability to respond to pressure, deadlines, and changing priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent judgment with confidential information.
- Proactive identification of learning opportunities and application of new knowledge.
- Commitment to diversity and serving a diverse community.
- Experience in Academic Advising or Registrar’s Office.
- Experience using Ellucian Banner or other student information systems.
- Experience working with graduate students.
