Position Overview
Special Gifts Officer – Tuck School of Business, Dartmouth. Solicit and secure gifts ranging from $25,000 to $250,000+ from a portfolio of alumni prospects. Remote eligible. Full‑time, 40 hrs/week, based in Hanover, NH or in a remote location.
Key Responsibilities- Gift Solicitation and Commitments (70%) – Solicit five‑to‑six‑figure annual fund and restricted current‑use gifts from alumni prospects, secure written commitments, and ensure prompt payments.
- Donor Prospect Identification and Cultivation (15%) – Apply prospect research, fundraising expertise, and creativity to identify and nurture potential donors, and refer prospects to appropriate teams when needed.
- Gift Proposals (5%) – Partner with the Campaign Operations Team to develop proposals aligned with strategic initiatives of prospective donors.
- Contact Activity Reporting (5%) – Enter donor contact activities into advancement systems and collaborate with partners.
- Team Development (5%) – Contribute ideas, support Tuck Advancement initiatives, and share knowledge of higher education fundraising trends and innovations.
- General duties – Perform other duties as assigned.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience successfully raising gifts for higher education institutions or highly transferable sales and client‑relationship management experience with similar methods and standards; experience with fundraising management systems such as Ellucian Advance.
- Knowledge of higher education economics, philanthropy, and administration obtained through a business or liberal arts education, continuing education, or relevant work experience.
- Ability to travel extensively to meet donors and attend fundraising events.
- Ability to anticipate, deliver on, and exceed donor and colleague expectations.
- Ability to introduce and drive innovation in small and large initiatives.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across Advancement, Tuck, and Dartmouth.
- Ability to proactively pursue learning and professional development opportunities and apply new knowledge to enhance results.
- Must pass a pre‑employment background check, including criminal, reference, work‑history, and credential verification.
- Must be able to drive a vehicle as an essential function of the job.
