Projects may include aerospace systems, defense technologies, thermal management systems, cryogenic systems, advanced manufacturing technologies, and other technology areas.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and convert CAD to FEA-ready models
  • Perform structural, thermal, and coupled thermo-mechanical analyses for thermal and mechanical systems
  • Develop finite element models (FEMs) to evaluate stress, deformation, vibration, fatigue, thermal gradients, and margins of safety
  • Conduct steady-state and transient thermal analyses involving conduction, convection, and radiation heat transfer
  • Support design trade studies and optimization efforts related to strength, stiffness, weight, and thermal performance
  • Interpret analytical results and provide practical engineering recommendations to multidisciplinary project teams
  • Correlate analytical predictions with laboratory or field test data
  • Develop and validate hand calculations to support and verify computational models
  • Participate in prototype development, testing, troubleshooting, and root-cause investigations
  • Prepare technical reports and present engineering findings to internal teams and customers
  • Contribute to new technology development initiatives
Desired Technical Experience

Candidates should possess experience in several of the following areas:

  • Structural mechanics and stress analysis (analytical and FEA)
  • Thermal analysis and heat transfer (analytical and FEA)
  • Dynamic, vibration, or modal analysis
  • Fatigue and failure analysis
  • Aerospace or defense hardware analysis
  • Electronics thermal management
  • Experimental correlation and test support
  • Material behavior under thermal or structural loading, ideally including creep conditions and associated modeling

Experience with one or more of the following tools is desirable:

  • ANSYS
  • Abaqus
  • COMSOL
  • SOLIDWORKS
  • MATLAB
  • Python
Professional Requirements
  • BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum of 5+ years of post-graduate relevant experience
  • Solid foundation of structural static/dynamic and thermal heat transfer fundamentals
  • Ability to solve a variety of structural static/dynamic and thermal heat transfer problems using physics-based analytical methods (hand calculations, in-house tools, and 3rd party commercial analytical tools)
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
