Position Purpose

The Counseling & Sport Psychology Post-Doctoral Fellowship is designed to enhance the successful candidate’s clinical skills and facilitate their professional identity development within both a college mental health center and athletic department. The fellow will provide direct clinical services to undergraduate student-athletes, crisis intervention, as well as psycho‑educational outreach on mental health, wellness, and performance to varsity teams, coaches, and staff.

Specific responsibilities will be based on interests, availability, and training needs.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct clinical services to undergraduate student-athletes.
  • Offer crisis intervention under supervision of licensed clinical psychologist.
  • Deliver psycho‑educational outreach on mental health, wellness, and performance to varsity teams, coaches, and staff.
  • Participate in professional development, supervision, and collaborative practice within the counseling center and athletic department.
  • Contribute to program evaluation and quality improvement efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • PhD in Counseling or Clinical Psychology completed at an APA‑accredited program.
  • 1‑2 years of post‑doctoral experience or equivalent education/experience.
  • Completed APA‑accredited pre‑doctoral internship and dissertation before beginning fellowship.
  • Documented verification of completion of all doctoral program requirements.
  • Experience working with college-aged population and with survivors of trauma or clients with eating disorders.
  • At least two supervised practicum, internship, or other work experience in a college student mental health setting.
  • Demonstrated competency and commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness in service delivery and outreach/programming.
  • Specialized training or experience in sport psychology, health psychology, kinesiology, or progress toward becoming an AASP Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC).
Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with college-aged population, including clinical experience and knowledge of working with survivors of trauma or clients with eating disorders; demonstrated competency, experience and commitment to issues of diversity; specialized training in sport psychology or related fields.

Benefits

This 12‑month, full‑time position (September 1 2026‑August 31 2027) offers a stipend of $53,000, professional liability and health insurance, vacation, sick leave, and ample professional development time.
